Usually, I’d have to go looking for a swarm of bees but this week a swarm found me! I was harvesting lettuce for a restaurant order when I looked up to see a giant, golden cloud of bees hovering over the garden beds. (Imagine if bees showed up at YOUR work!) A healthy hive will swarm every spring, leaving half the bees behind while the other half go off to find a new home. Two colonies where there once was one. It’s a very special thing for a beekeeper to catch one of these giant balls of bees after they gather on a tree branch or home or car and place it in a hive. In fact it can feel like a religious experience. πŸπŸ™πŸΌ (at Chase Near Eastside Legacy Center)
